We need to replace an old storm door in the back (the black one in the picture). Some have suggested an iron gate door so we can have the dutch door we have open at night and feel safe. Others are saying just another light metal storm door with a screen/storm window switchability like the one we have now. Any suggestions, and references of places and installers?- Thanks
I bought 2 full security doors from Brooklyn Window and Door. Really nice to lock and forget about. Mine has a large grid that watches the window mullions. I think it cost $300 or so.
I’ve been debating this myself. Was considering a solid wood storm/screen door, but a security door with scrolls or bars might be good since I could leave it open. Any thoughts on wood vs. metal? How much would a metal one cost?
Ricardo Ironworks made a very sturdy steel security door/gate with bars for me. Then on the inside it has screen panels for summer and plexi panels for a winter storm door. In the summer I lock the security gate and leave the main door open, even at night. The screen is on the gate door so no bugs.
