In case I will not rent through a broker and even if I do, what is the best way to have a “background” check of the new renters? I know about the credit score and all but still, is there anything better? or anything more I can do?
Any advice is welcomed.

Thank you!

  1. I agree with the above poster; every time I even consider not checking employer and previous landlord references, I just say “Pacific Heights” to myself! And I use NTNonline.com to run a credit check; you have to specify one type (I think Experian) to get the fico score. Good luck!

  2. We checked 2 previous landlords for references, asked for income verification and did a evictions/criminal background check as well as credit check. You’ll find places that will do these checks but all will need to verify YOU as a landlord first. Not necessarily a bad thing. We asked tenant to pay for cost of the checks, I think $35.
