Better looking radiators?
Hello all. I am in eternal dislike of the ugly but efficient cast iron radiator in our living room. I would love to replace it with a more attractive radiator — such as the Runtal (http://www.runtalnorthamerica.com/residential_radiators/curved-radiators.html) Does anyone have any experience with the Runtals heaters? Does anyone have any experience with the Runtals heaters? Do they provide as much heat as the cast iron radiators?
Any other more attractive solutions?
Thanks!
My niece lives in DUMBO and has the Runtels in her apartment. They crank out the heat. Reason they crank out the heat? The boiler was installed and piped correctly.
They look good too.
How much do the runtals generally run in cost/
I find the runtals rather 1980’s euro-boring (though unobtrusive) but the apartment therapy article radiator with the built-in bread-warmer?!
That’s freakin’ rad.
Yes, we replaced our humongous cast iron radiators in both floors of the rear extension on our house with sleek, very unobtrusive Runtals. As s Jock says, they work well and look great but just be sure to take care in proper sizing. Two different plumbing supply houses we consulted with (Park Slope Plumbing Supply and Pronto in Manhattan) gave us different calculations. We ended up going with Pronto.
The Museum of Arts and Design had a great show in 2009—Totally Rad: Karim Rashid Does Radiators. This link should take you to the exhibit: http://bit.ly/aBsYQh
Apartment Therapy also had a post last year about contemporary radiator designs: http://bit.ly/dzPkRG
Maybe not your style if you don’t like cast iron, but occasionally you’ll find very beautiful circular cast iron radiators with marble tops in architectural salvage shops.
They re well designed and work well.Other companies you should look at is Jaga(Jaga-usa.com)These radiators are beautifully crafted and has styles to fit different aesthetics. Some of them are fan assisted using computer fans for low wattage energy input. And the next company that also has a nice line is thermic carried by pronto gas supplies in the city.Website is http://www.thermic.be.These radiator companies has something to compliment your home.
Work great, look great. I have them throughtout my house. Just get them sized properly.
