I am currently treasurer on the board of my small (9-unit) coop, and the secretary position has come open, but no one else is capable of taking the position or willing to do so. Would it be in any way illegal or improper for me to serve in both positions?

  1. lol i always crack up about this, when i joined our 8 apartment co-op there were 4 people on the board.

    we now have 2.

basically as long as everyone votes for it you can do what you like.

  2. Not illegal or improper if not forbidden by the governing docs. OP didn’t ask about voting, of course it would not entitle him to two votes.

  3. I disagree—there’s certainly nothing the matter with the poster fulfilling the duties of the secretary, but I don’t think that would (should) entitle the poster to two votes. Perhaps the voting aspect wasn’t your concern???

  4. You have to look at your co-op bylaws. If the rest of the coop shareholders approve, there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
