Hi,
Just wondering how easy/hard it is to install a new thermostat? Not the most handy person- how much electrical info is needed?
Lastly, any reccs in what model to buy? We have a 5 unit, 3 story, building with a thermostat only in the ground floor owner unit. Thanks for any advice!

“It’s not just about fishing the wiring and doing the hookup but knowing where not to mount a thermostat.”

I’ll master this Mac keyboard yet….

  2. It’s low voltage so you don’t need much electrical safety knowledge. But if you’re intending to install the thermostat in a new location it would be a good idea to let a pro handle the job. It’s not just about fishing the wiring and do. I’m a DIYer but I screwed up by relocating my thermostat to a wall that gets lots of winter sun — something it didn’t in the summer when I did that job.

  3. There is really no experience needed. There are two and three wire low voltage systems – and I suppose more wires if central a/c it tied into loop (though I have never encountered that). Follow the directions. One thing that I have always found helpful, and even a must in case something does not work out, is to remember which terminals the old wires came off of –

We have a Honeywell programable in our house and have been pleased.

  4. do you want to replace existing thermostat (you have wiring) or install new thermostat and run wires from the control module?

Do you know whether your current thermostat uses 24V or line voltage?
