Happy new year everyone!
In Holland people often have a “flat” container hanging from their radiators, which they fill up with water regularly. The heat will make it so the water evaporates nicely and there is no need for electric humidifiers. I am looking for something similar here, but have yet to find it. My radiators are hidden behind a cover, and I can not simply put a pan of water on them, but I would love to do something similar… has anybody seen these things here?
Most radiator boxes have hinged covers. You can place a cookie sheet with water directly on top of radiator, or place a vase/container with water and rocks on top of radiator cover. Not hard to make one yourself, or two versions below available online if not sold at Leopoldi’s or Tarzian. The first link (Kilian’s) is worth a visit if ever in Philadelphia:

Plastic: http://bit.ly/4S5TqF
BTW, if you don’t have a radiator cover, the plastic or metal versions of the second link are meant to be hung on the wall-facing side of the radiator.
I used to use these when I lived in an apartment that had radiators. haven’t looked for them in over 30 years, because my house has hot air registers, but an old-fashioned hardware store, like Leopoldi’s on 5th Ave. and 7th St. should have them.
