I’m looking for an old fashioned radiator humidifier. It’s a water container that hangs on a free standing hot water or steam radiator and puts some moisture back into the room air via evaporation. They’re usually ceramic or clay as far as I remember. Any ideas? Brooklyn Lowes is clueless.

  1. I have the kind diors is referring to. It’s sold by Kilian’s Hardware in Philly; they can ship them. It’s true that they protrude somewhat, but in my case at least, they protrude less than the valve, so they fit fine. They hold a fair amount of water, and imo they look a little less goofy than something hanging off the front of the radiator.

There was a post on this topic just a few days ago:

  2. The above recommendations look good. I bought a different style that is a rectangular-shaped receptacle made of galvanized aluminum with a long arm that you insert into the radiator from either end. The problem is that most of my radiators are in corners or have a protrusion that makes it impossible to insert the arm into the radiator. Don’t get that one!
