Does anyone know where I can recycle plastic grocery bags in Brooklyn Heights? Thanks!

  1. Actually it would be even more environmentally sound to reuse the bags. Bring them with you when you go to the grocery store and have your groceries bagged in them. That way the bags don’t have to be broken down and remade.

Precycle is better than recycle. Although I applaud your effort in either case.

  2. No, bodhi, your PLUSA status can never be revoked. Once a pathetic loser . . . lol. I know you’ve been working hard, but we miss you, so pop into the OT and say hello once in a while, and please try and stop at Last Exit on the 21st. First rounds on me!

  3. Hi CGar! Thanks for your note. I’ve been drowning in work lately, just like a plastic bag at the bottom of the sea…
That picture is pretty ugly, but I hope it will motivate someone to recycle their plastic bags too! 🙂

So you are having a gathering next Thursday? That sounds fun! I think I am free that night and will try to stop by. Thanks for the invite. I haven’t had much free time at work lately and being an active member of the Brownstoner community is like a full time job! So needless to say, I’ve been remiss. Can PLUSA status be revoked??

  4. P.S. If you work anywhere near Whole Foods, they also recycle plastic bags. (And batteries) I hate that photo you posted. Reminds me of the Texas-sized garbage patch in the Pacific. Very disturbing.

  5. bodhi, Met Food on Henry & DeGraw definitely – I just brought 4 plastic bags each stuffed with hundreds of plastic bags there the other day, though I realize that’s a bit far for you. CVS might also recycle bags.

BTW, how are you and where have you been??? We’re going out to Last Exit on Atlantic between Clinton and Henry on Thursday the 21st if you’d like to join us. It’s chicken’s bon voyage party. Please come!!

  6. Thanks Arkady. The key food on Montague doesn’t have one, or at least that’s what the person on the phone said. I’ll try Atlantic Ave. I hate to throw away so many plastic bags and have them end up at the bottom of the ocean. It just seems wrong.
