Looking for some advice here on the best way to start a blog or website for a fsbo listing. We plan on putting our apt on the market and want to do the best possible job with photos, floor plans, key points about the apt. Anybody do an fsbo website on their own? Am not even sure where to start. Are there templates for this sort of thing? Thanks!

  1. Just register a domain name on Godaddy.com and then point it to a Blogger.com site

it’s not as pretty as building a html website but the price cant be beat.

if you really MUST have a pretty layout with photos etc then hire some kid to build it.

eg. this site http://www.Cognation.net was put together in about 30 minutes – it’s not rocket science.

  2. I just started to list my apartment in Park Slope, FSBO.

I’m using No Brokers Please! to help me list it. I’m happy so far. They provide 6 professional photos of your apt if you buy a package.
Here is my listing on their site: http://www.nbpny.com/properties/114-garfield-place-4r.html

The other thing I did, although I don’t think I needed to because of No Brokers Please!, was make my own website using weebly. It’s free. Anyone can do it. You don’t need to know how to make design or program. Here that is: http://114garfield.weebly.com

I hope you find this helpful.

  3. Thanks, lambretta, I will try that, am mac savvy but have no business trying to build a website from scratch! When you say you received good responses, did you find doing the fsbo was the right thing to do? We want to try that route first, Seems a good website is the first step. And, only reason said blog was because know there are standard templates for that sort of thing.

  4. I used iweb and mobileme from apple when I built my FSBO site. Very easy to do, no cost involved at all (mobileme is free for first 2 or 3 month trial) and a few customizable templates to choose from.
Received good responses and couldn’t be happier.
    Good luck.

  5. Check archives for using existing site software (NY Times eg). Doing it from scratch is a lot of work unless you’re familiar with GoLive or other site-building software.

And why a blog? Hopefully the process will not extend that long! Also blogging software is not all that flexible in placement of images, text, etc. (I use typepad and it’s generally a pita).

  6. well, you start by registering a domain name, then you build a website. If you don’t know how to do this, you hire someone to do it for you.
