Carpet Tile Recommendations
I am seriously considering putting residentail carpet tile in our basement and was wondering if anyone that has done something similar can offer comments or recommendations. Thanks!

my concerns were the same as yours.
2 things:
-the carpet i bought is indoor/outdoor this it tolerates the occasional moisture issues.
-i had the carpet installed directly to the subfloor–NO PADDING.
seriously, those tiles look terrible and aren’t cheap either.
Thanks manofelt, my concern is if water comes in, the whole thing needs to be replaced, including installation. I know there are drawbacks to carpet tile, but I dont want to do wall to wall as I am afraid of the potential expense of having to redo it should anything happen.
Really I am just trying to get an idea of which tile is the best out there, even considering the obvious drawbacks.
Thanks!
Similarly, the carpet place on Atlantic Ave (by Bond or thereabouts) has a large selection of remnants. Might find something serviceable.

I know of several (read: 4 or 5) people who have used carpet tiles, usually in basements or kids rooms.
I don’t think one of them would recommend them.
They just look like crap after a very short period of time (corners lift up, dirt gets trapped in the seams, etc.)
Go to the closeout section at ABC carpet–I bought really nice premium quality commercial carpeting for my basement for $29/yard–looks incredible, feels nice, has the same kinda vibe as carpet tiles, and is holding up perfectly.
