ABC carpets is a a little expensive and their selection in N.Y. is limited. Can anyone suggest a good shop in N.Y. or Brooklyn that has decent prices and a good selection?

  1. I third the recommendation of Better Carpet Warehouse. I purchased a stair runner to go up four flights in my house. They were great at every level – it cost what they said it would cost, they installed when they said they would, they took away excess material and trash, and were easy to reach by phone.

  2. I agree with the goat herder. ABC. Though I bought my wall to wall “remnants” at the main store near Union Square. Beautiful carpet for the stairs and the halls in my rental unit.

  3. For pure wool wall to wall, ABC has very competitive prices: Around $25-40 per square yard installed. I haven’t been to the Bronx outlet, but it’s probably even cheaper.

The regular neighborhood stores charge more for nylon.

I have heard there is an inexpensive carpet place on Flushing around Bushwick Ave. that may be really cheap, but I have not actually checked it out.

  4. Try Better Carpet Warehouse on Atlantic btwn Nevins and Bond.

They have a decent selection of stuff with good pricing for stuff in stock.

They don’t have a fancy show room or anything, but the guys there are pleasant enough.

They have a few collections of area rugs hanging up and a couple piles of remnants and runners scattered around.
