I am trying to find a way to vent a dryer in a condo. There are no vents in place as far as I can tell, but there may be some behind the walls (doubtful).

Assuming that I can’t bust a hole in the exterior wall, would the only way left to do this be to go through the window?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  1. Look up condensing dryers. Bosch makes a good one, but it is electric and you will need a 220 line.

  2. Ventless dryer.

You will not be allowed to go out the window. You also need to have the proper electrical hookups that require the building’s approval for instalation.

  3. When I was in a coop in the Slope, I had a washer dryer in my basement apt (The apt came with it) – and attached to it was a cheap venting gizmo that just came out to the front and I had to fill it with water, and empty it often.

As long as I kept adding water to that vent it worked very well and I never had a problem in the 10 years I had that set-up.

  4. You need to discuss it with the building. They are not going to take kindly to you just cutting a hole in its side. The vent needs to be located by code away from any windows, vents and such.

  5. Yes a ventless dryer unit would be a easy solution except that I can’t seem to find a decent review.

I could build something to put in the window, but that would require tubes running throughout my kitchen.
