I am having communication problems with him, similar to the episodes described by others: no call back, no response to voice mails after repeated attempts to contact, … I have also heard the line from him about having a new telephone that wasn’t working properly, but that wasn’t in October, that was almost a year ago. How many new phones is this guy getting?
I am again trying to get a hold of him because my small co-op keeps wanting to get his estimate for repairs despite the unreliable service — mostly because his estimates are cheap. And I suspect they are cheap because his workers are hired on the cheap. They never show up with anything more than the minimal set of tools needed for the job.
He has done reasonable work, but I hesitate to hand him a contract for anything complicated. Has anyone had a major project done by Vin Roy’s crew? Thanks for any info.
He repaired my slate sidewalk last week, and I signed on here today to thank the person I got the rec from! Obviously, a different thread than this. I also googled Vin Roy and found a rec for him as the person who worked for This Old House in Prospect Heights.
I found him responsive by phone (he does NOT text) and very easy to deal with. He pulled a permit for the repair, and did a good job at a reasonable price.

I have had terrible dealings with this man. He not only leaves jobs and does not come back; he does not supervise his workers when they are on the job resulting in very negative consequences for the home owner.
You are fortunate if he does not return. One of my neighbors has used Abdul with good results. There are several others who are also quite good and Buscarello comes to mind. Good luck.
I had the same problem last week but he finally phoned – he had a new telephone that wasn’t working properly & didn’t get messages. You should hear from him soon.
