Does anyone have thoughts on University Towers. I have been to the Open Houses here and some of the newly renovated units are very nicely done. I understand they are near the Ingersol Houses, but it will also be a block away from City Point and Willoughby Square Park when those are completed in 12 months. They are a stable Coop in the middle of a bunch of condos in downtown Manhattan. I would be glad to hear your thoughts.
@ Serge, I’m looking to buy in UT. Could I have a chat with you about the complex?
Thanks in advance.
Bought at UT in 2007.I see three concerns in comments about UT:security, apartments layout and windows size.
There is even more close to Ingersoll Houses Project new condos Avalon,Oro,Toren. If you check police reports there is probably more mugging in Park Slope then around UT.And what put UT aside from most of COOPs and condos,we have parking on property. No mythical “waiting list”,you just may buy apartment with assigned parking spot (adds $25,000-30,000 to the price plus $50/m to maintenance bill)
Don’t see anything especially awkward in layout,1 bedroom got 5 closets,in renovated apts wall between kitchen and living is usually removed.
Windows-not like made of glass new condos but livings got window across whole wall, kitchen got windows (not every COOP have it),my bedroom got two windows (could be bigger, agree, but same as most buildings of that time).
And through wall AC sleeves not taking window space as at Concord Village.
I’m sure there are listings in concord village….175 adams, 195 adams, 215 adams, also address on jay for couple bldgs.
I personally don’t consider that area unsafe to walk around.. though I probably would not walk thru projects evening/night. But Flatbush ave, university towers grounds , walk from/to subway I would not have problem with…and with more development will be busier.
What about the security issues in that area? I have seen the police reports and they are definitely trending down. Also, Phase 1 the Myrtle Avenue developments are almost done and there will be a grocery right behind University Towers in 1Q10. They are starting CityPoint soon, all the hotels are going up on Duffield, they just accepted all the RFPs for the Downtown Brooklyn Streetscape project. All that is within a block or two of UT.
I don’t see any listing for sale in Concord Village. Also, in many of the condos in Brooklyn I am having a hard time getting good interest rates because the banks see them as risks.
I don’t mind the haters since there are obviously two sides to every story, but been interested in hearing more.
lots of people here will hate them telling you they look like projects but I think they are probably quite fine.
And when developement completes on Flatbush avenue you’ll see more commercial options on that side. I think is convenient area and nice grounds.
Similar development to concordvillage (adams/tillary).
You might also want to look at Kingsview listings right near University.
also do internet search on complex. I think there is a blog for there.
