Any recommendations for an experienced mason who is excellent at troubleshooting problems in brownstones? We have an interior undiagnosed leak that I’ve had a number of people in to fix. There’s no plumbing involved, and its apparently hard to tell what’s the source, although the closest exterior area is the outside stoop. Any suggestions?

  1. thanks. daveinbedstuy, do you know of any good mason? hard to sort out who’s basically just advertising for themselves when they reply to masonry posts. I’ll call vinroy barronette.

  2. Water will inevitably find its way through any crack or crevice. Where stoops meet the house is always a great place for it to occur. An “engineer” is not what you are looking for. They are for structural work. Just get some good mason recommendations.

  3. If you want a mason, VinRoy Barronette is excellent & has solved those kinds of problems for friends of mine – though water *is* tricky so no guarantee.
