Caesarstone or Silestone?
We’re looking to replace a butcher block countertop with Caesarstone or Silestone … does anybody have any recommendations for installers? And what kind of prices can we expect to pay?

That’s true CaesarStone is real quartz. I also prefer CaesarStone to Silestone because:
1. I think they have a much wider selection of better colors
2. They have great customer service and warranty
3. They have a recycled collection and a lot of green certifications
4. They do not use “Microban” like Silestone, which I researched a great deal about, and found it actually can be more harmful than helpful…

How is it “synthetic”? It’s 93% natural quartz.
The two synthetics are very similiar. The one thing with Silestone that may be helpful is that now you can get many colors in “jumbo” size which may help if you are doing a large L without seams. Depending on your supplier you usually have to buy the whole slab unless there is a remnant available. I have used Caesarstone more often because I feel the colors are better. Mondial Tile in Bklyn has been my fabricator numerous times and have been happy. Price is comparable to the $ 50 to $ 90 a sq ft. range, depending on color.
We have ordered our Silestone at Home Depot for three different projects. They were always easy to work with. Low end prices can run about $50-ish a foot high end can run close to $90 a square foot. They also have a thinner version that may run cheaper, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you have to attach a dishwasher to the counter. We absolutely love our Silestone. It wears so well and is so easy to clean. Good luck!
