hello. has anyone dealt with A&K Tile on 9th street in park slope? i was there today and the salesman refused to give me a sample, or even tell me the brand of the tile i was looking at. has anyone had any experience, good or bad, with them?
thank you.

  1. My husband and I had a bad experience with the customer service at A & K. The tile is great, they just don’t place a premium on service. There was another post about A&K on here sometime last spring.

  2. I haven’t personally used them but there was a similar post here a couple months ago about someone having a bad experience.

I got great service from Nemo tile in Manhattan and from the DalTile showroom nearby. And the DalTile place by Home Depot agreed to serve me even though I think they are officially “only to the trade”.

    Good luck,
    Suzanna

  3. I’ve dealt with them a few times with no problems. Jennifer is the owner. Jerry is the slightly gruff salesman, part of that is that he is hard of hearing.

It could be they don’t have samples of everything, who knows?

As far as the brand, I don’t blame them. These days everyone wants to do things cheaper and cut out the middleman, so they may have been afraid you’d look up the mfgr on the internet and go elsewhere.

  4. That is very surprising! I have dealt with them during my 3 bathroom, kitchen renovation and they were more than accommodating. I constantly brought samples home. I know that they just got a new gentlemen working at their place and I believe that he manly deals with kitchen cabinets, perhaps he’s a private contractor renting space. Ask for Jennifer. She can give you wonderful ideas!
