Installing Grab Bar lathe/tile
Need to install a bathtub “Grab Bar” in my parents bathroom. Tiles around bathtub are over a wood lathe wall. Has anyone out there done this before and do they have any suggestions/advise/ warnings to offer?

if tiles are grouted well and in good shape, the suction grab bars really work well!! my 200+lb terminally ill friend was staying with me and i needed grab bars in a hurry. they work well and don’t destroy anything of integrity and can be moved and removed easily. they work on any smooth surface.

A mollie will not give enough support for a grab bar (great for a towel bar though!).
First you need a really good masonry bit. Then those plugs that are sometimes called ‘mollies’ – a screw w/ a metal jacket that bends back to make a flange behind the lath. You have to have an accurate measurement of the depth so you can get a shaft that’s the right size.
