Outdoor Trash Storage
I’ve seen some attractive outdoor trash storage “sheds” to conceal garbage cans installed in the front areas of brownstones. Where can we purchase one? Are they all custom-made? Thank you!

what about the metal ones? anyone know anything?
I have seen garbage enclosures go through the full LPC review, so if you live in a landmark district, you might want to research that as well. Sorry I don’t have more details; wasn’t that curious as it went by.
city beautiful carpentry. 917-679-3572. I think there is a good website…citybeautifulcarpentry.com. He makes beautiful enclosures, planters that match……..on Columbia Street.
I love those wooden sheds! Growing up in California, my very cool artistic neighbors (painter daughter of architect and an expert on Chinese pottery) designed one out of redwood that was built into the bottom of their deck. Now my sister has one. Someday I will have one. But first, the built-in bookcases and the house to hold them.
I’ve designed a couple for clients over the years and have a carpenter that builds them. My cell phone is 347-495-7580, if you would like to chat with about it. Jane
I believe there are one or two custom-made wooden enclosures on 8th Ave. between 9th St. and 15th St….somewhere around there. At least one used to have a sign for contacting whoever made it. Also, I think the same kids who made the Benches for Barack were also making trash enclosures. Depending on where you live, the LPC used to require a permit for these (see page 32, bottom): http://www.nyc.gov/html/lpc/downloads/pdf/pubs/workguide.pdf
I think by the time you ship the wood you may as well have had it custom-made. The Rubbermaid versions don’t appear to last very long.
I believe you can get the rubbermaid ones at Home Depot or Lowe’s.
The wooden ones I’d also like to know if anyone has seen them sold commercially (especially if they’ve seen them somewhere within driving distance) or if they’re only available custom-made.
I’ve seen them on-line, but they’re very expensive with shipping.
