Did anyone use Traemond for the installation of ikea kitchen cabinets?
Were you satisfied with Traemond.

If not why?

I want to hear about the good bad and the ugly of this installer.

I am still undecided who to use. Any info would be helpful.

  1. Used Kitchen Couple for three kitchens in three different apts. Two in Park Slope and one in Manhattan. Great people. I’d use them again.

Just get your design and measurements right when your order from Ikea.

KC even had some spare parts and wood mouldings to help us out.

Long lead time for getting job done if they’re busy. If your flexible, they can come on 2-3 day notice if they have a cancellation.

  2. We used Traemand to istall our Ikea cabs the first time around and found them to be quick, efficient, extremely knowledgeable about the product, and reasonably priced. At the end of the installation, however, the lead guy figured out a way to jack up the price for a $100 worth of rather questionable “extras” (read: involuntary tip). We also learned, after the fact, that one of the base cabinets was installed with a damaged rear panel. As soon as we discovered the damage, we called Traemand and got a replacement install of the defective panel with no problem. It’s also my understanding that particular installer team no longer works for Traemand.

We eventually uninstalled those Ikea cabs from our kitchen and repurposed them in the rental kitchen. The second job was smaller and not as complex and we ended up using a handyman who claimed familiarity with Ikea cabinetry. Although the reinstall went fairly smoothly, there was a functional flaw in our design that neither we nor the second installer noticed until the install was complete. Our hunch is that the Traemand installers would have immediately recognized the problem — either on paper or just by discussion of cab placements. The mistake has impacted full utility of the base cabinetry in the rental kitchen as it was intended. Bottom line? Err on the side of using someone who is very familiar with Ikea cabinetry installations! If we were to install Ikea for a third time, I think we might choose the Kitchen Couple — even though they are definitely more expensive than Traemand.

  3. I highly recommend the Kitchen Couple. They did a great job on our kitchen installation in March. Bonnie was very patient and answered all of my questions and came up with a great design that really maximized our space. Ron and his crew were courteous, did the work in a very timely manner (they ripped out the old cabinets and installed the new in about 3 days) and did an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves every day. I briefly looked at Traemand (who is the recommended installer at Ikea Brooklyn, I think) but was so happy I went with the Kitchen Couple instead. It was such an overall pleasant experience working with them and we have been so happy with our new kitchen.

  4. We used them and were happy with them. They came on time, worked hard, made suggestions, and totally know what they are doing. They are very focused on moving quickly b/c there is only a certain amount of time allotted for the job and they make money on volume. Having said that, I’ve no major complaints.

Their kitchenside manor is not the greatest…not much of a sense of humor, but I’d use them again.
