Red Hook
Hi Im looking to move to Red Hook on Dikeman street. Is there an easy way to get to that area without having a car? Does anyone have any thoughts on the area?

I ride a bike every day and still am not sure I can dig Red Hook for exactly that reason. No transit. Especially not at night.

The B61 is great leaving Red Hook, can be a wait as it trundles its way from LIC. The walk from the Carroll St stop via Summit Street is much more pleasant than any walk from the Smith and 9th St stop. Bike is a good suggestion, but the B 61 is really not that bad and gives you many train options in downtown Bk.
Outside of bus service, the distance from the closest station (Smith/9th F,G) is not prohibitively long but it is a hike. It’s what you have to walk by that is the problem. Walking under the Gowanus Expressway is never fun, especially after hours.
the B61, and hope and pray the first few do not pass your stop
thanks all. very kind.
bicycle!!!!
Is there something wrong with the IKEA ferry?
go to maps.google.com choose “Directions” and “By public transport” It is very accurate. Alternativly try hopstop.com
No. There is no easy way to get to that area without a car. The bus down van brunt is pretty much the only bus in that area and the F is very far away. On the bright side, I think they have ferry service to lower Manhattan from IKEA.
