Our contractor came to us today and told us that he messed up with the tiling (let thinset sit too long) and we will have to order new tiles for the shower stall. these tiles ran us $17/sf. He said he will pay for it, but we feel really badly because there were some issues initially which were more the tile seller’s fault than the contractor’s. Do you think offering to split the cost 50-50 is fair?
good karma begets good karma
Do what you feel is right. If you are working on a renovation together, you are a team and if you feel that it is fair to pay half, do it. He will really appreciate it and go the extra mile for you on other things.
im a contractor as well as a brownstone owner, and deal with all kinds of greedy, cheap clients and would give you fabulous service and quality if you did such a thing
Offering to pay half is classy and worth it.
Contractors deal with a lot of difficult people, and a lot of working any job is attitude. If you can generate goodwill with a good contractor, it will really pay off.
BHO, chill. THis has nothing to do with a bear market.
I’d offer to pay half. A happy contractor is a good contractor in my book.
DO NOT OFFER (if at all) UNTIL THE WORK IS DONE TO YOUR SATISFACTION!!!
***Bid half off peak comps***
You are far too nice for this site. Flee while you have a chance.
Seriously, if your contractor has already offered to pay, and you are willing to pay half, your contractor will be thrilled. Do it, and you will get some serious goodwill back.
