Dead Birds in Clinton Hill
Wondering if anyone else has noticed the amount of dead birds on Clinton Hill sidewalks. Walking around yesterday I saw four (2 of them babies) bodies lying on the ground. Has there been any spraying recently? If anyone has insights regarding this troubling phenomenon, please share. Thank you.

What kind of birds are we talking about here? I saw a dead pigeon on Washington/Gates yesterday and thought it was odd as it made me realize that in my 16 years of liviing in NYC i had never seen a dead pigeon.
In the spring it’s not unusual to see baby birds that have fallen out of their nests. On the other hand dead adult birds are a concern because of the possible presence of the West Nile Virus.

Ever since they suspended alternate parking…
Any chickens???
it’s probably just kids feeding the birds alka seltzer. it makes their stomachs explode 🙁 i remember when i was a kid people used to feed them to ducks. horrible.
*rob*
omg. swine flu has spread to the birds.!
This is typical of spring. We’ve had a few here in Bay Ridge as well. Mostly baby birds. Some must be blown out of the nests but remember that mamma birds will push any baby bird out of the nest that she deems unviable. I hate seeing it but such is nature.
My son’s preschool class saw 2 in North Slope the other day on their nature walk. I thought it was a bit troubling too.
I also noticed this in Clinton Hill. No idea what the cause is but it is sad and troubling.
