What is a reasonable price to pay to have an 800 sq foot apartment painted – ceiling, closets, 2 coats, I provide the paint. I’m getting a very wide range of quotes. Thanks.

  1. Hi,

I have over 20 years of experience in the field. It’s very hard to
say how much the job should cost without seeing the apartment. I’ve
worked with homeowners, architects, and contractors on a wide variety
of projects including townhouses, lofts, apartments, restaurants,
retail stores, and galleries. I’m extremely detail-oriented and
thoroughly reliable. Also, a couple of people have written about my
work in Brownstoner forum. See “painters” monthly archive on 4/13/08
“Great Painter!!” and 2/3/07 “Painter to recommend”.

Please feel free to send me an e-mail and I’ll give you references
with contact information. I’d be happy to come over and give you a
    quote.

    Best,

  2. I’ve paid $800 for a day and a half of work with one person and a part-time helper. Place was maybe 600 sf or so. One coat, high ceilings, did not pain the trim, only one crack to patch. I bought the paint.

  3. I would like to refer myself for the job. I have 25 years of experence and checkable references through out Fort Green and Clinton Hill. A basice price for painting an aptment will be $750.00 Per Room. Prep Including ceiling, walls, doors, closet, basebroad’s, windows. 2 Coats (That’s Bedroom’s and living room).
    Kitchen,and bathroom – Basic price $350 to $500.

  4. It depends on how much prep work is required, but I’d say a reasonable price is $600-800 per room, with minimal prep (i.e., flaking off a little loose paint, small plaster patches, cleaning and sanding). If you need a lot of patching and skim coating, then $1000–1200 per room is reasonable.)

Does this jibe with your estimates? If you think you need a skim coat, and can afford it, I’d do it…
