You can’t get salvaged vault lights, afaik. That’s the tough part.
We will be starting renovations soon and in the second phase will be taking down our fire escape on the parlor floor (keeping the rest for safety).
I would be more than happy to figure out if you can take that particular piece of the escape rather than putting it in the dumpster.
by the way what is with the cheap ass windows on the job?..they look like bottom of the line replacement windows..hold on..i bet they are “green” salvaged windows..lol..

Gennaro, we’re trying to do the same thing, except using “vault lights,” the things you see on the sidewalks in soho (http://www.nps.gov/hps/tps/technotes/ptn47/cover.jpg), embedded in a steel sheet. I think it’s a great (no pun intended) idea to put this up as a deck as it allows light to get through. Also, it’s pretty cheap if you’re using salvage.

bunkerlabs, there is an opening in the floor so the light from the wall of windows streams into the lower level. The catwalk is to go across the opening to the garden. It looks really cool.
Is that catwalk between two buildings or within one? and what’s below? Looks pretty neat whatever it is.
