I completed both the basic and advanced courses last year, and have to second the recommendation of brooklynista! NHS is wonderful, Mark is amazing and helpful and knows everything. the other students were great too. I loved it.
I enrolled in this course this past fall but, unfortunately, I had to drop out before completing it because of too many schedule conflicts. Still, on the basis of having attended at least 6 of the 10 sessions, I strongly recommend it to those of you who wish to take on more basic home repair and DIY “construction” tasks and/or be more knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with contractors and subs on your various home improvement projects. (Although this the basic course, a more intermediate level course of instruction is also available through NHS.) Mark, the instructor, is a very cool, substantially experienced guy (especially in carpentry). The majority of the students are fellow Brooklyn homeowners.
