heating and/or thermostat problem
Our heating system doesn’t seem to be working correctly, and our apt is freezing. Who can I call if I think it may be a problem with the thermostats?

Thanks for the advice. The combination unit is a Trianco Heatmaker Mark II. Anyone know a company who can service this type of unit?
You need a plumber who specializes in heating. Most plumbers don’t.
So you know, the thermostat is giving that message “check system” because the boiler is not working. The thermostat is doing its job.
It would be a good idea to identify the brand of boiler you have so you can ask if a service company is familiar with that particular type.
Those combination units are very tricky.
Most in our area are made by Laars and Trianco Heatmaker.
We have a combination hot water heater/boiler, and we have not had any trouble with the hot water (yet!). I think we have a hot water heating system, but I’m not really sure. The thermostat keeps giving a message “Check system” which we are able to override. The thermostat doesn’t consistently turn on even when the air temperature is below the programmed temperature. The problem may well be the boiler, but I’m not sure who I should call to help me figure this out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially before the temperature really starts to drop.
What makes you think it’s the thermostat? Do you see any sign of life at the boiler or furnace?
Is it a hot water or forced air heating system?
