DEP Certificate to Operate - need an architect
The DEP requires a certificate to operate when the chimneys from a boiler room handle more than 350000 BTUs. Ours are slightly over that (two chimneys, approx. 400000 BTUs each). Thanks.
We refinanced the underlying mortgage and the bank is requesting the DEP paperwork.
The boilers are fine. I have been in regular contact with the DOB. This is about the chimney output. A seperate (DEP)issue.
Claire then why would you be needing a use card now?
Your boiler is inspected annually and has been for the whole twenty years it’s been there. probably. Easy enough to find out for yourself by typing in your address at the DoB website.
Besides the advice from the plumber, do you have a specific need to undertake this expense? Is this coming from a city agency?
The boilers and water heaters have been installed for at least twenty years. For whatever reason, a certificate wasn’t filed at time of installation and by current standards we need the certificate. The master plumber who recently inspected the boilers suggested we contact an architect to draw up a plan to submit to DEP and once it is filed, we’ll file annual reports. That’s why I’m looking for an architect experienced with this kind of situation.
Usually the installing contractor has a working relationship with an engineer to obtain the use cards. Does your installer know someone that would be appropriate?
