Trouble with our Architect
We are having some challenges with our Architect (delays in signing permit papers, delays in submitting amended plans (due to a zoning mistake he made), veiled threats about signing our CO papers) What can we do? Do we have any recourse? Any advice is appreciated

What can you do? Sit down with him as soon as you can and clear the air. Talk about how you’re feeling, and go in to the issue of the “threats” — I’m not sure what you’re meaning by that but if there is something there get it out in the open (what could he possibly be holding over you? you can supplant him at any time you want).
After you make a good faith effort to communicate your concerns, and I recommend doing this without accusing him of the delays (even if you think it’s clear he caused them), fire him and find another. But you may find that laying your concerns out on the table goes far to making things work out more smoothly during the process.
Ounce of prevention, etc etc
We had a similar experience–I would love to hear other recs as well….
You can threaten to report him to the NYS Board of Professional Licensing. I also had an architect from hell many years ago. His first name was Carl-I don’t recall his last name. He worked in the Park Slope area. He was a horror!
