Seeking advice / input from people experienced with the process of buying a new construction condo: is there a way to verify that work is being done and that inspections have started? When I go to the department of buildings site I can find the construction permits etc. but I don’t see where you can find that inspections are under way or scheduled. I was told by the agents that, “inspections have started” but that’s all they said – exactly what inspections etc. I have no idea. Everytime since I ask about the building (since March) I am told “two months” and now realize it’s just a stock answer. I was by the building again today and saw no signs of any work being done – granted, a small crew COULD be in there working but sure didn’t seem like it. In fact, judging from the location and arrangement of supplies in the visible parts of the lobby it didn’t look like anything had moved since I was there two weeks ago. I have a feeling that the GC has moved on to another job and left 1 or 2 (or none) workers to finish up. I would think a real crew could finish the whole building in a week, seriously. So my question is: is there anything I can do to verify that work is under way and that the inspection processes are being done?
