Has anyone had experience with Z. Abedin?

I am having my front stoop rebuilt and am considering him. I was referred to him by someone on Brownstoner (thanks Chris Montgomery from Decatur Street ) but would like a little more input. His English is not that good so it’s a little hard to gauge him.

If you’ve used him, know anyone who has, or any addresses he has worked on – any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  1. Just used Z for a small stoop repair and repointing job. Found his work to be good, his crew to be respectful and his price to be good. I’ll definitely use him again.

  2. Z Abedin just finished rebrownstoning my stairs and a few other random masonry jobs and the work was very, very, well done. And ~50% cheaper than some estimates I received! His status updates leave a bit to be desired but I wasn’t in any particular hurry so didn’t really care. His English wasn’t the best as others note but he knows this and has no problem repeating/restating. If you want to see the stairs in Cobble Hill drop me a note at nycslane at gmail – didn’t want to post my address here.

  3. I’ve been using Z. Abedin for about 4 years on various jobs. I’m a mid-sized developer / CM that does work on the side. I got his contact through one of his brownstone jobs in fort greene. The first job he did for me was a fairly substantial limestone / brick facade restoration for a luxury condo in Hell’s Kitchen and the second was a complete brownstone facade resurfacing on the UES. Since then, he’s done numerous residential brownstone jobs for me — always with the same level of detail, care, and unbeatable price. Other posts are true — his English does leave a little to be desired. That said, he is a master mason who knows his trade well and comes through on everything he says and promises. I recommend him highly and will continue to use him.

  4. ok. well i find that incredibly hard to believe – after speaking with them both, seeing the work they have done, and their price points are drastically different (everything about them is from opposite ends of the spectrum.) they would have to be master scammers with the most elaborate scam. and for what? anyway, thanks for passing that along but there is just no way.

  5. I was told that Malek and Abedin are the same company, and they approach customers differently (approach, cost, etc) to secure work. This may be complete heresay, but just passing along what I heard.
