patch repair of inlaid wood floors?
our inlaid floors have a few places where the wood need repairing. In our hall, for example, there is a strip where an inch of wood (or so) is missing – broken or worn away. I would like to fix it myself if possible. Where might I find more info on how to do this?…

Thanks
Thanks very much. I think I will start with a small manageable spot and give it a try.
Sorry, I need to clarify. If the piece that needs to be replaced is not tapered (i.e. it’s straight), this can be very simple. The flooring stores typically sell the 5/16 parquet in 2″ strips. So if that gap is 2″, you’re in business. If it’s smaller, and you don’t have a table saw, you may be able to talk a flooring store into ripping (cutting to the correct width) a smaller piece for you. Then all you would need to do is simply cut the piece to length.
a trip to premium floors or verazanno flooring will set you up with the right material. After that, you’ll probably need a table saw and a good taper jig.
I recommend this one. http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworking/Workshop/WorkshopPDF.aspx?id=24155
