our inlaid floors have a few places where the wood need repairing. In our hall, for example, there is a strip where an inch of wood (or so) is missing – broken or worn away. I would like to fix it myself if possible. Where might I find more info on how to do this? It looks like other spots have been repaired over the years with wood patches.
Thanks

  1. Sorry, I need to clarify. If the piece that needs to be replaced is not tapered (i.e. it’s straight), this can be very simple. The flooring stores typically sell the 5/16 parquet in 2″ strips. So if that gap is 2″, you’re in business. If it’s smaller, and you don’t have a table saw, you may be able to talk a flooring store into ripping (cutting to the correct width) a smaller piece for you. Then all you would need to do is simply cut the piece to length.
