I am an Old Sloper and have been living in park slope for 40 years, I am tired of people moving to my block & trying to run sh!t. If you don’t like that my grandkids and the other kids from the block hang out on the stoop at 9pm get packing because the same way u bought your home my family & I have bought 5 buildings on the block & have several more in park slope, and we have the right to keep the “Hanging on the stoop” tradition going. We were here before you & we have our own so to speak “Customs”. Remember you bought a home in the city not some small suburban town. The same way I told my kids when it was time to come inside & when to keep the noise down is same way their parents & I will tell them, so mind your business or go back where u came from.
Whether you like it or not., we will still hang out on our stoops, throw noisy block parties, play wiffle ball, open fire hydrants (with approved FDNY Sprinkler caps of course), etc.. Deal with it and stop calling 311, obviously you are wasting the NYPD & FDNY’s time, they come by & don’t do anything because we are not doing anything wrong, they laugh (at you) & leave. Didn’t you as kids have fun in the summer wherever you grew up? Welcome to City Life…
I love stoop culture. Just had the 5-0 called on me last weekend. Moving to a fun noisy neighborhood soon. Thank goodness. Fight the fight old-timer. I throw in the towel.
If they want to blast music let them as long as its before 11pm i think its ok. And yes we use the fire hydrants with approved FDNY sprinkler caps that they gave us. If they dont have a problem with it then why should you? Do some research & watch old videos of NYC and see how it used to be such a fun place to grow up. I’m thinking of starting an annual stickball game on the block like we used to do i nthe 70’s & 80’s. It’s a shame that with every new generation we are losing tradition to grumpy new people. You are welcome to join us, we don’t bite, we are not thugs. If you dont want to join us dont hate what we do, watch & enjoy!

Aren’t you a little old to be tattling to “Mr. B” all the time? I’m sure he and his staff are sick and tired of high maintenance “registered” users who frequent his site for FREE but think they deserve a white glove service.
$60k? Not a bad ROI at all. I’m all for stoop sitting (as long as you don’t have your pimped out Honda Accord blasting music on the curb), but come on, blasting water from fire hydrants?
One of the things i love most about my block are the kids playing up and down the street, and the neighbors sitting outside. It was like that growing up in the Bronx too. You ran a gauntlet of the little old (grouchy) Italian and Jewish ladies who told your mother every evil little deed you did. But they also used to pinch your cheeks and bake cupcakes.
Not here to start any trouble, just wanted to say what I had to say to my unfriendly neighbors. When they moved in I was waiting for an apple pie at my door. We are a good family, my kids have businesses in the neighborhood, but we like to have fun during the short summer & dont want anyone bothering us. Sometimes it’s just better to mind your business when you dont like something as long as its not life threatening. Say hello to us old timers, we know the neighborhood better than anyone & can probably teach you a thing or two. I always liked to have friends on the block.
Im not a grouchy old man, I just dont want a “Grouchy” newcomers yelling at my grandchildren.
FYI I am 51, I have a 30 y.o & a 28 y.o who have children.
Yea I bought my homes in Park Slope when a 3 family cost $60,000 & the slopes was a ghetto, good move i’d have to say, guess the ghetto ricans are here to stay lol…
Mr B. i thought we got rid of the faded type guests? Who is this jackass? Probably someone on alrosariojr’s block with a stick up his/her ass. Guess we now see who’s entitled, egotistic & selfish.
Oh yes I just googled Jane Jacobs & I have to say I agree… The neighborhood feel is going away, back in the days we all knew each other, we said hello, good morning. Even though it wasnt the greatest neighborhood & we didnt have bars & restaurants on every block we were happy, we had the bodegas, pizzerias & Pollio Sandwiches and thats all we needed lol…
Self entitled, egotistic, and selfish. You’re a grouchy old man… wasn’t there a movie of similar title back in the ’90s? Yes, yes there was.
