Verrazano Flooring hot or not?
We have a few very bouncy floorboards, maybe an indication of a cracked joist. The squeak doesn’t bother us, but we want to address the problem before it worsens and a floorboard cracks. I’ve read mixed reviews of Verrazano Flooring. Can anybody recommend an alternative?

I called asking them to be here at 9am as I would not be able to use my bathroom until the finish dried (it would take 8 hours). I made the appt. 2 weeks in advance. When they called the prior nite I again emphasized what time to be here. I brought my dogs to the vet to spend the day there as the floors were being done and I did not want them walking on it.The day they were supposed to arrived they said they would be here at 10:30am instead of 9am. Then they called saying Noon. They did not show up until 1:45pm. I sent them away, as my floors would not be dry until 10pm.Totally unprofessional.Stay away.

i did not have a positive experience with verranzo. they had to refinish my floors TWICE because they kept making mistakes. The finished the floor half glossy half matte and they didn’t even tell me until I came home and discovered it. I had to bargain them down since it ended up taking another week longer than they promised. There were other annoying issues with them. I would not recommend.
One of the WORST contracting experiences I have ever had. They ripped up our sub-flooring (which we were going to keep) and then could not replace it. They disappeared for weeks and then because they knew that we were incredibly dissappointed with the service sent over this big gut in a ripped t-shirt to collect the balance due on our job (in cash mind you) at the time we had just had our daughter and were stressed renovators and they raked us. they suck. I am glad to spread the word. Wow did they suck….
I received a quote that was more then twice the amount of two other quotes that I received. I don’t remember the name of the guy that I used, but he did a great job. His number is (732) 522-0016.
I had heard good things about them, and so had friends who used them when they bought their new house. Big mistake. They had to fire them midway and hire someone else to finish up. And they weren’t being too picky – just needed your basic floor job, and the guys Verrazano sent were messing up big time.
The reason you hear mixed things about them is just that – results are mixed. Apparently, it depends on who they send to your place. I’d look for a company with more consistent reviews. Or a small company, run by 1 guy maybe, where you know who you are getting.
We used them. I would reccommend them.
I’ve used them several times over the years. I’ve never had any problems with them that I can now recall. In fact, at this point I don’t even bother calling anyone else so I’m not really sure whether they are still competitively priced.
I’ve got a half dozen friends who have used Verrazano over the years and I haven’t heard any negative comments about them. I used them to sand my first floor just after I got this place. Even though I decided later to replace that floor (the POs had saturated the worn pine with years of liquid floor wax making a durable finish problematic), they did a good job for what I thought was a fair price.
The best flooring guy I’ve worked with is Steve Musto. He was trained by Verrazano before going off on his own. However, I believe he moved his business to NJ and only does corporate now.
