The bluestone sidewalk in front of my Bkln Heights brownstone is is need of repair/replacement. I want to replace with new bluestone and I am looking for recommendations for someone who can do a great job. Two people told me to use a guy named Jose, but he never answers his phone and I’m told he’s booked through 2008. If you’ve had a good/great experience with anyone, I would greatly appreciate recommendations.

Thanks

  1. We used Lascelle Edwards to level and reset our bluestone walk.

Have not seen any finer work. We began working with him in the late ’80s. Have also used him to replace and repair brownstone.

We recently purchased newly quarried brownstone ledges for under our front windows. These came from the original CT. quarry where much of the brownstones of Boerum Hill apparently came. The quarry operated from the 1700s to 1938 when the hurricane flooded much of it. A small portion was re-opened in the 1990s and may close in about 4 years.

    They will cut to size.

  2. Try Etna (office in Red Hook). They reset the old bluestone at St. Ann’s Church (with new concrete for the rest), and have done a number of houses in Brooklyn Heights too, including ours.

  3. An English bricklayer did quite a bit of work for me and did some bluestone for my friend. We were all pleased with quality of work.Don’t know how busy he is but I’m sure he can have a look anyway.tell him Rose from Halstead gave you the number.
