Im looking to have 3 rooms (approx 600 sq feet) in an older building in prospect heights sanded, stained and refinished. I’m looking for honest and reliable tradesmen with good examples and references. Who would you suggest I contact? Thanks

It is unfair for PutnamStoner to slander our company’s reputation when his statement is misleading.
PutnamStoner called our company for an estimate. Since he provided the measurements, we were able to apply a phone booking discount. We did make him aware that the technicians would re-measure the floor and the price would be adjusted accordingly. PutnamStoner booked the job. When the technicians went to the job site, they noticed there was not only extra square footage, but also additional work needed aside from the refinishing. Upon inspecting the floor, we gave PutnamStoner his updated price, keeping the same discounted square foot rate for the refinishing. Unfortunately, he decided to cancel the job completely. His deposit was refunded back to his credit card even before he posted his comment.
This comment has been sent to our legal department for further review where they will decide what necessary actions will be taken against this defamation of character by PutnamStoner

I am a designer having used 1-800-Wood Floors for years, they have excellent contractors, ironically, I had a very bad experience with a gentleman “Carlos” who had come to my home representing the Company, he tried to sollicit the job for himself on the side, I reported the worker to 1800 Wood Floors who told me they had had several problems with this contractor and were no longer using him, be careful not to fall into the trap of solliciting laborers of legitimate companies to do the job on the side in order to save money, they don’t carry insurance and you will have no recourse if something goes wrong…
STAY FAR>>>> VERY FAR AWAY from 1-800-woodfloors. They will do a bait n switch on you. The have a batch of sub contractors that fight for the lowest price and they send them to your place. Those contractors will then change the price to something much more expensive when they see your place. (1800 gets you to make a deposit on the phone b/4 anyone has seen your place.) Then when you balk at the price they will refuse to refund the deposit because the contractor traveled “all way to your place”
If you check the archives, you can find a gentleman named Carlos who does EXCELLENT work. I don’t have his number handy but he’s mentioned a couple times. He did my 100 year old rental soft yellow pine floors and did repairs and made them look incredible.
