Bonnie and Ron specialize in designing and installing IKEA kitchens– that’s all they do, they’ve been doing it for years, and they know Ikea products inside and out.
We’ve used them twice now, once for a rental apt kitchen and recently for a much more complex kitchen project on our parlor floor, and we couldn’t be happier. We thought we knew what we wanted and mapped out a rough design using the Ikea kitchen-planner software, but Bonnie is an Ikea whiz and she came up with storage and space solutions that we’d never have thought of ourselves.
We put in an Ikea Kitchen. I actually went to an amazing blog called “Ikea Fans” and there are designers who run the blog. They designed our kitchen for free – with lots of input from us. Saved it onto the Ikea design website, then we just went to Ikea, printed out the order, rented a truck and brought it home. Then we had one of the official Ikea installers rip out and dispose of our old kitchen and put in the new one. We used www. traemand.com. They were excellent and done in 2 1/2 days. We had a separate plumber and electrician do the other stuff. Good luck.

Yes, you can go to Ikea with your measurements, but you may wait in line a long time and the planners may not be great.
Find a good contractor with a good eye for design and you should be fine.
There is also software from Ikea that you can use to layout a kitchen rather nicely.
The folks nyflicka mentioned are actually ceritified by IKEA and set-up the stores, so you probably won’t go wrong with them.
nyflicka…thank you for your input. Will pursue.
