  1. I hate to sound like a pissed off client but I am.

We hired Tjun Industries to do some work in a new brownstone co-op we just purchased.

It’s not a big job but the timing was critical in order to get some additional trades through in a timely manner.

We signed the contract 4 weeks ago and I’ve been leaving voicemails and emails for the 4 days requesting an on site meeting this week to confirm start dates times etc.

My voicemails and emails went unanswered for the last 3 days and with the start date on monday was starting to get worried.

I dialed the mobile one more time this afternoon expecting to get voicemail but from a different phone (I was sitting in a friends office waiting for him to head out to lunch), Meng answered the call and was surprised it was me on the line – when I asked why he hadn’t gotten back to me his answer was sorry but we’re not going to be able to start on Monday.

When I pushed for an answer why he said I’m injured so without being able to make it on site we wont be able to start for another 3-4 weeks.

Needless to say I’m spending tomorrow looking for a new general contractor.

I’m sure meng is a nice guy and tjun industries is a reputable company but I’m dissapointed in them and their inability to meet the timelines we agreed to over a month ago and this is valuable feedback for other people considering hiring them to know.

  2. Is he a licensed, insured GC or a glorified handyman? Does he bring in subs you think are qualified? How was he on budget/schedule? How about some photos?

People post some really uninspiring recs here. If you’re going to bother to post, give some details.
