Kiki – did you ever find someone? I’m looking for a siding contractor.
I did contact someone in Long Island and they seemed ok but then failed to show up with a price. Slopefarm, do you have a recommendation for a good general contractor?
I’ve wanted to do this for years, but since I don’t want to use T&A I haven’t been able to find someone who really has experience working with that material. My advice would be to look in the suburbs, because a lot of houses in New Jersey, Long Island, etc are made with hardiplank. Let me know if you find someone? It is a lot harder than it seems to find a contractor to do this.

I am looking for the same for my woodframe rowhouse in Crown Heights. I have been frustrated at the range of quotes and the seeming lack of knowledge I have encountered thus far. Any collaboration with this search would be much appreciated.

Any decent contractor with a crew can do the hardiplank. The job looks neater if you frame the house in 1×4 casings or the like before putting the hardiplank on, and a lot of people paint the casings white. Also, don’t go for the woodgrain hardiplank; it looks less real when painted.
