Cna someone help?? I have a very old parquet floor which has been waxed. I need to install a temporary black shiny floor over it for an artist project. Exploring vinyl, which is the idel color and surface, but a complicated install that could damage my floor. Would prefer click tiles but can’t find solid black. I would really appreciate any ideas about materials, suppliers, installers, or if anyone has perhaps had personal experience putting in some kind of temporary floor over an antique wood floor. Thank you!
how about rolled black rubber, the kind you might use for a runner?
speak to a theatrical designer. Marley (dance floor), Masonite with a gloss black surface, photo laminated MDF, black vinyl, any of these surfaces can be used on your floor. Ideally you affix the pieces to each other, not to the floor itself.
There is [or at least used to be] relatively cheap roll vinyl that is just unrolled and cut to fit without any adhesive. Eventually it starts to roll up at the corners, but you only need it temporarily.
If your old parquet floors are anything like mine I don’t think there’s any way you can refinish them. Or if there is, I’d love to hear about it. Mine seem less than match stick thick.
Put a layer of something between the wood floors and the temporary floor, whatever you choose.
Just avoid any warping or water damage. But if the wood floor gets scratched sure it’s a pain but it can be easily quickly refinished.
