Hi,
Has anyone worked with Bill Cook from American Construction – looking for some reccommendations or any information on his work.
We have been talking with them about some work and have found him good so far but are yet to sign a contract.
Is there anything we should know before going ahead?

  1. Good luck to you all – permits for all of them were received. There must be something lacking from your lives to be reacting so snidely over a log.

  2. Hey, Mitchell, um, I mean Sam…

You are in for some big trouble. Let’s see, where should I start from your three recent blog entries.

    1. You demolished your condo without hiring an architect or getting plans filed. THIS IS ILLEGAL.

    2. You now want an architect to file plans for you and then just leave. I BELIEVE ANOTHER POSTER ALREADY COMMENTED ON THIS. SIGNING THE PLANS HOLDS AN ARCHITECT ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR WORK.

    3. Now you want to know our opinions on a contractor who you haven’t even received recommendations from, on a price for a job that has no drawings or specifications! I THINK IF YOU SEE NUMBERS 1 AND 2, YOU’LL SEE WHY YOU ARE IN THIS PREDICAMENT.

THIS IS NEW YORK CITY AND YOU LIVE IN APARTMENT. THE WORK YOU DO IN YOUR APARTMENT CAN AFFECT THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU. YOU ARE SKIPPING VITAL STEPS IN THE PROCESS THAT (IN THE WORST CASE) COULD KILL SOMEONE. YOUR CONDO BOARD IS STUPID FOR ALLOWING YOU TO DEMO YOUR PLACE WITHOUT A PERMIT AND YOU ARE STUPID FOR NOT RESEARCHING THE PROPER PROCEDURES PRIOR TO ENGAGING IN THIS WORK IN THE FIRST PLACE. YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO ASK THESE QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU START WORK, NOT WHILE YOU ARE ALREADY DOING IT.

Get a clue. You are an idiot.

  3. Have you requested references from Bill Cook and he unwilling to provide, that in itself is a bad sign. Are you comparing quality, price, both, or using some other measure to base your opinion?
