I found termites in the basement, eating away from a join and floor. Called termix for a free inspection. The inspector spent a few mins. and extracted some termites, but when the time came to discuss posible treatment, he didn’t see to be very knowlageble. I don’t think the inspection was very well done, but i guess it was free and just a way to get an estimate on how much is will their service cost.

I would like referals to other companies to compare service plans/Treatment options, etc.

Please, if you know of any one, let me know. I will call parkway exterminating, as I saw them being recomended, but I would like to know of other companies.
Thanks.

  1. Guest 4:04PM, I think that you were hearing
the sounds of a mouse inside your walls…
that season when the critters scramble around…

I always thought that Termites silently
gnawed away at the wood structures in a home.

Just remember, a mouse in the wall is better than bats in your belfry! 🙂

  2. Thanks Honeycut, i will give them a call.

4:04: I found the infestation by spotting “wood” dust around a basement window wood frame. By taking a closer look at a beam and with a flashlight I was able to see some eaten up wood rows. Didn’t hear noises.

  3. OP: I had a negative experience with Terminix. After the initial inspection and diagnosis, a technician (in name only) came to our house to treat for carpenter ants, and he had to call the main office to ask what he was supposed to do and how. We asked him to leave and rescheduled the appointment. Two no-shows thereafter, I complained to Terminix (both by several phone calls and in writing) and eventually worked out a full refund. Then we got a dunning letter from their collection agency demanding payment. Needless to say, a big hassle. I had to write back to the agency and Terminix pointing out their incompetence, and the matter was finally settled once and for all. If you can avoid Terminix, it might be a good idea to do so.

  4. Can someone tell me how you know if you have termites?

Just this past weekend I heard a knawing sound in the wall.

Thought it was a mouse or something but now i’m beginnning to wonder…

    Thanks!

  5. What does the guarantee mean exactly? They will come back for free to check in a while or they will come back if you find more… could someone explain it to me, please? Thanks.

  6. We just used Ecology when we discovered the early stages of termites in our basement. They did a great, thorough job and it came with a 2-year guarantee. This is my first experience with termites, so I’m not an expert by any means, ask me in 2 years! But we felt like they did a good job.
