I am looking for about 10 doors, varying in size (some closets, bathroom, bedroom, etc.). We have found only non-solid, light-weight standard looking doors. We are looking for heavy doors that are stain-ready (our contractor will be staining them), probably made of cherry wood. Any suggestions would be welcome and appreciated!!
I just recommended Mona Liza to a friend. I bought several pieces from them years ago, and the compliments just don’t stop!!
I know Dykes– They don’t do what these guys can do.
I have found what I think all Brownstoners would consider a Brooklyn Jewel.
Investigating a name under a table that I stumbled onto years ago, I finally found time to find the place–and what a find it was–absolutely amazing.
After owning my brownstone for six years, imagine – hand wood carving/duplication of anything, restoration, antique replicas, as well as custom made furniture detailed for your personal taste or desires. Anything you may have missing in “this old house” – they can do. Pieces of furniture made by them was also in Oprah’s Magazine.
These gentlemen/owners are not youngsters by far, nevertheless are holding onto a tradition that will soon be past and forgotten. Wanted to get this out for those getting their santuary in order for the holidays.

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions! I have checked out a few of those (can’t wait to get to Eddie’s for some gems)…and believe it or not, I was very successful at Dyke’s Lumber on Sixth Street. I think that is where we’ll end up purchasing the doors from. The staff was absolutely wonderful, and we ended up ordering an exterior door and a window too!

I used MDF solid core doors from dykes… ( 3rd ave and 6th street????). 8′ X 3′ cost around $200-$250.. I stained them and they came out beautiful…
