I’m looking for an architect with a deft aptitude for brownstone renovations. Looking to do a gut reno in a historic district, so it has to be nice and traditional on the outside, with a flair for design and the contemporary on this inside. Thing is, I have no idea where to start looking. Any suggestions?

  1. I would be happy to see and discuss your project.
Our firm does many townhouse renovations each year in brooklyn. I could take you to a project just completed that respects all the original details while inserting modern elements throughout. The client and I are very happy with this combination.

  2. The real question here is your budget… if you are willing to spend $$$…

A friend of mine works for Deborah Berke & Partners and is currently working on a gut reno of a historic townhouse (upper west side), all new steel structure and everything. They do lots of types of work, but are well known for their residential.

(They will be similar in price to Steven Harris, noted above, FYI)

  3. Check the website archrecord.com to find the architects that are responsible for buildings and restaurants that you like. It’s an amazing site that gives the details of all the people, materials and sources for each project. I think that Bentel and Bentel are incredible!
