I recently tiled my bathroom floor with hexagonal marble tiles. I was not thorough in wiping off the excess grout on the tiles before it dried and now need to figure out how to scrape it off without scratching the marble. Acid cleaners are not recommended for marble. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does it makes sense to scrape the grout off with a blade, even if it creates scratches, and then re-polish the marble?

  1. How can I remove foam-tape that is stuck to a pre-finished hardwood floor?
It’s the type of insulating foam that you use to weatherstrip around a window unit air conditioner.
The weatherstripping has been stuck on the floor for years, and I didn’t want to scrape it off because I was afraid it may scratch the wood.
    Please advise!

  2. i don’t know if this will work for marble but some kind soul on this blog suggested using white vinegear to get grout off mosaic tile and it worked like a charm (this was after we used all kinds of scrapers, cleaners etc.)–its worth a try.

  3. I had a similar problem and, as 5:22PM suggested, let the grout soften with water and then used a putty knife… gently and often… used a sponge with a scrubby side and rubbed/coaxed the rest off. No scratching… worked fine.

  4. The first step is to wet the tile, that will soften the grout. You could try sand paper or the blade of an utility knife.Use patience and be kind.
