Can anyone recommend someone who’s attentive, has really good taste, but is not overly expensive and will work with us to try to keep overall costs down?
I would be happy to discuss your project with you.
Our firm does many townhouse renovations in Park Slope, and I’d be happy to show you a brownstone on the upper west side that we just completed (and haven’t yet photographed). In this project we respected every single piece of original detail while inserting a modern kitchen and baths.

ParkSlopeParents has architect recommendations as does ApartmentTherapy.com.
we worked with Anne Nixon at Brooklyn Office Architects and were extremely happy. she incorporated a simple, clean modern look into our french second empire brownstone maintaining every bit of detail. it is absolutely beautiful what she did and she loves, respects and is a stickler for the details. her office number is 212-343-3500.
We used Johann Grobler (groblerarchitects.com)as the architect for a gut renovation of a brownstone. He listened to our requests and came up with a great plan. We paid a fee to get the plans approved by the DOB (rather than a percentage to oversee the whole project), and we are thrilled with the results. Best of all, he is a real gentleman in the old-fashioned sense of the word.
> henry mitchell. He’s an architect
Interior designer
