I’m interested in this condo but I’m not familiar with Clinton Hill. Could someone please tell me if this apartment is located in a safe area?

http://www.corcoran.com/property/listing.aspx?Region=NYC&ListingID=1064395

Someone also warned me about agencies misleading buyers into thinking that the apartment is in a certain neighborhood, when in truth it is not quite in that neighborhood. Could someone please confirm that the condo listed is in fact in Clinton Hill?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  1. Your broker has got to know that this condo is in Bed-Stuy.Very deceptive. You have to wonder that if they lie about its location, what else are they lying about.Make the trip if possible and see for yourself. Some people are bothered by things that others are not. As to the safety issue, i would pose that question on the brooklynian website or bedstuy.com blogs. Good luck!

  2. This is not Clinton Hill, which ends at Classon. It is unequivocally Bed Stuy. Not that that’s bad, mind you–but Corcoran is once again being misleading.

  3. Just walk around the area yourself at different times of day – it’s the only way to find out if you feel safe in the neighborhood. Safe is really pretty subjective.

  4. Clinton Hill is traditionally (okay it didn’t exist as a neighborhood a generation ago according to some long term residents) considered to stop at Classon. Myrtle Avenue has seen some Pratt Institute inspired improvements, but can be rough in parts. But the only way you are going to know if you are comfortable in a place, no matter what neighborhood it is in, is if you go there and walk around at different times of day and night. My corner of Clinton Hill is kinda edgy, while areas further east in Bed-Stuy can seem quite grand. Myrtle Avenue is also quite far from most trains in Clinton Hill.
