Dumbo. Is it Safe ?
So, before I get completely flamed, I am thinking of moving to Dumbo with my wife. 99 Gold has some pretty good deals, but I wanted to know what everyone’s opinion of the projects near Dumbo is. And is the park really starting to become a no go area at night ?

For 2:22 :
Obviously you’ve never lived near the projects.
My blog covers topics similar to this. Gentryornot.blogspot.com.

Hey 1:17,
thanks for the google. I zoomed in, and saw someone in a lexus getting carjacked. You gotta love the web.
think about it this way: you said the building has some “good deals”. why is that?
is there really such a thing as a “good deal” in NYC real estate?
if it seems like a good deal, there has to be a reason. location is your best bet.
Thanks for all the comments.
I was simply posting as a relative newcomer to New York. I live in the East Village, which itself I guess, is in close proximity to projects, if you could call them that.
I was just saying that the projects over at Dumbo, when we walked through them , felt immensely more remote, and therefore slightly more threatening.
I have been reading other comments on curbed, brownstoner etc etc and have heard them described as a ‘war-zone’, ‘super gnarly’, ‘not an issue’, etc etc
I spoke to a very informative woman who runs a dog walking company in Dumbo itslef, and she would not send anyone over to that part of Dumbo late at night. That pretty much said it all for us.
I’m not ready to pioneer that area just yet.
Those projects look *very* unsafe to me… Half of them seem about to topple over!

The Rapture already happened and we’re all still here. Jesus only took the bees with him. Stupid bees.
I guess that man that was stabbed in BayRidge when he went for some milk was close to the projects too huh? No…he wasnt. He was in an area with 2 family homes and porches. You are close to crime wherever you live. The NYU student murdered in her dorm was close to the projects huh? What a stupid statement. These days crime is rampant in the city, suburbs , everywhere. These are the end times. People are purely evil. Be aware of your surroundings at all times , at all places.
This is New York City. The closer you are to the projects the closer you are to crime.
