This is for a small kitchen makeover.
Both have been reccommended but
i don’t know which is is better for a small space.

I am trying to make a seamless and functional space.

  1. I am having a Bulthaup Kitchen installed. The installer has commended me on the purchase of the liebherr over the Sub-zero saying it is more reliable. I bought the 24″ and was certainly happy that it was at least half the cost $2,200.

  2. FYI – I have and love my Summit, but the “stainless steel” is really aluminum and will scratch if you go at it with anything abrasive (we learned this the hard way).

Still, Summit is a great fridge and a great value.

  3. Sub zero is bad for repairs, from what I’ve heard and they cost around $6K with the stainless facing (not included in the base price of the fridge).

Summit is a great company and their fridges are reliable. The company is based here in NYC so service is good too and they make several hard-to-come-by sizes. Best fridge for your money by a long shot.

  4. Check out the SCP171SS Summit refrigerator at AJ Madison — manufactured in Denmark, two compressors, super energy efficient, 24″ deep and 24″ wide — but tall 79″. Very cool looking (AJM has one in their back kitchen at their Bkyn store). Pricy, but not any more than a Subzero or Liebherr. (Subzero also has a terrible repair record, according to the Aug 2007 Consumer Reports.) AJM has great website.

  6. I have a side-by-side Liebherr. It’s 48 inches total but can be installed seperately. On either side of my stove I have a 12 inch countertop and the 24 inch refrig. on one side and the freezer/winecooler on the other. I love it, hasn’t scratched, stays clean, has a very high energy rating and people always compliment it. In addition, it’s a little different than the standard subzero look – which I had before. In terms of how reliable it will be, who knows. All the long term reviews were on European sites. But, it seemed to have very high rating both from consumers and reviewers.
