Has anyone bought floors from premium floors on 3rd and 31st? We are thinking of buying wide plank pre-finished white oak flooring from them. Any advice or comments?

  1. This may not be quite what you’re looking for, but we bought beautiful recycled wood flooring from Pioneer Millworks (google them) in upstate NY. They don’t offer standard new flooring but they do have many species and widths, milled from old beams. We got clear douglas fir and heart pine from them and were mor than happy with the service (vrey friendly folks) and our GC loved the quality. They offer oak too. Probably more expensive than Premium (I couldn’t handle the attitude there) but worth checking out. And it’s nice to go the recycled route!

  2. I was pleased with them. We sent them the design of our original border from the parlor floor and they did a great and very precise job re-creating it. They did up the per linear foot price quite a bit when we decreased the order by about half (deciding to use the border only in the rear parlor and something simpler in the narrow front parlor). I probably should not complain because I must have upset their economies of scale.

  3. Yeah. Premium floors is one of the best sources of flooring in Brooklyn. I bought all my flooring there and my contractor was impressed by the quality. I bought all red oak select and clear and it is great and prices not bad. The service desk is a surly bunch, actually sort of comical — they basically know what they are doing but don’t win any awards for charm, but don’t let that stop you. They open at 7 and close early and are closed on Saturday — their Sabbath.
